The alleged involvement of Taiwan actor Lee Wei in the shocking “Taipei Monastery Murder” has stunned the public. Lee, who came to fame in the early 2000s, is now a suspect in a murder investigation.

The details of the case are disturbing. A 52-year-old woman surnamed Tsai, an accountant at a “Buddhist retreat” in Taipei, was believed by the organization’s leader, Wang Yun, to have mishandled his finances. In response, Wang is alleged to have ordered his followers to subject Tsai to hours of physical abuse under the pretense of purifying her sins. As a result, Tsai died of rhabdomyolysis, a condition caused by severe muscle breakdown.
As one of Wang’s most trusted followers, Lee is alleged to have been present during the abuse. According to reports, after Tsai’s death, he instructed other members to cover up the incident by feigning ignorance when questioned by the police.
Behind the glamour of showbiz, many celebrities struggle with immense psychological pressure.
